#8: “To debate or Not to debate, that is the question” - 10/4/2023

PawNotes 🐾

Debates have been a pivotal part of United States presidential elections since 1960. Debates are not mandated by law but have become customary in both the general election as well as during the Democratic and Republican political parties’ primary elections. Debates are usually a key source from which voters gather information about candidates’ positions on the most critical issues facing our country.

Both spoken lines from today’s comic are actual quotes from Dana Perino (debate moderator) and Donald Trump from last week. The first quote is from the second Republican presidential primary debate which Donald Trump opted to skip (and also in which he was much-discussed). He instead delivered a political speech in Michigan. Admittedly Donald Trump has a lead that many feel is insurmountable. Valued readers, what do you think? Did Donald Trump make the right decision to pass on the debate?
