Clover Pawluck teaches Political Science at a local high school in Washington, D.C. This is the first time we’re seeing her in action in her classroom. See our characters page for more about our main characters.

Some of the core principles of Republidogs and Democats are that there is good in all people and that no one is either “all good” or “all bad”. This includes politicians too. (Surprise!)

A very challenging aspect of our political system today is that for many participants—from voters to presidents and many in between—political discussion has devolved increasingly into a negative, competitive situation of “my good team vs. your bad team”. It’s important to remember that nearly all of the time when people do things you don’t agree with, they are working toward what they perceive as good goals from a point of view that differs from yours.

One of the most distinctive qualities of our good-hearted readers is that they know how to find the best in others. Think about a leader you know that is from a political party other than the one you or your family typically support. What are some personal qualities or accomplishments of her or him that you can admire?

Lastly, here’s a great source on the Senate’s website for understanding what impeachment is and how it works. And don’t worry, school students can’t really be impeached!
