Tulsi Gabbard is President Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence. 

Until writing this comic and the last one, I hadn’t really ever paid much attention to these Senate confirmation hearings. It’s fairly shocking to witness how much rudeness and belligerence there is from the opposition. They actually do frequently use the exact tactics described in today’s comic.

To be fair, both Republicans and Democrats indulge in this type of behavior. Because these are Trump’s nominees, we’re seeing it mostly from Democrats this time, but Biden’s nominees were treated much the same by Republicans a few years ago.

Also, briefly, in the last two comics we’ve talked about people who have switched parties. Party switching is relatively rare in US politics but not unheard of.
