It is true that Trump told the voters back in September of 2024 that he would be asking Elon Musk to lead a government efficiency effort. They are now following through on that promise. USAID was one of the first targets and certainly isn’t the last.

D.O.G.E. Is essentially doing a financial audit of the whole federal government. Our author has been close to several audits as part of his day job. It’s normal for the management (in this case, government workers and Congress) to not desire/enjoy audits. It’s also normal for the owners (think “voters” here) to want/need audits to ensure their money is being well spent.

As a side note, we thought Elon Musk’s son must have had quite a special “take your child to work day” to tag along to the Oval Office with his dad.
